The SMS Trivia Question of the Week 10 / 25

Yes! It’s time for the all new SMS Trivia Question for Tuesday, October 25th! Brought to us each week by the veery cool folks at Omnivore Recordings! Your place for all the music you didn’t know, you didn’t know! But, before we get into this weeks question, we’d like to acknowledge the brilliant readers who weighed in on last weeks question, which was, an Anagram! “Bad boy era” actually unscrambles to become “Abbey Road” The truth is only one reader weighed in on our Anagram, and you might guess who it was? If you guessed it was the “Always there” and always right on the money Mr. Steve Winogradsky you’d be right! Congrats once again “Mr. Dubya”

But now! It’s time for the brand new trivia quiz for Tuesday October 25th:

In July of 1967, we were mesmerized by the dark and tragic tale of two “Star crossed lovers who’s secret love ends in tragedy with a suicide by drowning! As sad and morbid that may sound, we were all taken by new comer Bobby Gentry’s moody yet beautiful “Ode To Billy Joe”  But, that wasn’t the first time we heard that tale! five years earlier in 1962 we enjoyed a very similar story of “Star crossed lovers who’s affair is ended in a drowning suicide! And that is your question, what is the title to this Top Ten Teen Tragedy record from 1962 and what is the name of the artist who recorded this Gloomy Tune ?….. (Here’s an SMS semi – helpful hint) In 1962 our song in question could have made a great advertising campaign for “Levis” blue jeans! Lastly, give us the title to at least one more hit from the artist in question ?

In summary, here’s what we need:

1) What is the title to our song in question released in 1962 ?

2) Give us the name of the artist who had a hit with this morbid song in ’62 ?

3) Give us the title to at least one more hit from this artist ?
