The SMS Trivia Question of the week 11 / 15

Yes! It is indeed time for the all new SMS trivia question for Tuesday November 15th! Brought to us by all the very Groovey people at Omnivore Recordings! Your place for all the music you didn’t know, you didn’t know! But! Before we reveal this weeks question, we want to recognize the brilliant readers who weighed in on last weeks question, which was : All about Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme! Only one of you true trivia lovers answered  the entire question right and that would be Mr. Steve Winogradsky (natch) but Mr. Clark Besch was first in followed by Mr. Tom Slocum! Congrats again Mr. Dub Ya and a big SMS thanx and “We’ll done” Clark and Tom! But, that was last week! This week is here and now it’s time for”The Brand New SMS Trivia Quiz for Nov. 15th!

In September 1970 the ABC Television network debuted a “Musical Sitcom” about a family of musicians who start a band! This imaginary concept was actually  inspired and originally intended for a real life family band that scored several hits in the mid 1960’s! But,  their intense and lucrative touring commitments prevented the group from taking advantage of an amazing opportunity with ABC! It’s their story that is part of this weeks question, beginning with the name of the fictitious band and T.V. Show created by ABC, as well as the name of the real life family band from the 60’s.  Additionally, give us the titles to at least two hit’s from the T.V. band as well as at least two hits from the real life band from the 60’s! Lastly and to qualify for “SMS Super Genius” status, give us the real names of at least 3 members from each of the two groups ?

In summary, here’s what we need:

1) Give us the name of the fictitious band created by the ABC Television Network for their new “Musical Sitcom which debuted in 1970 ?

2) Give us the name of the popular real life “Family band” from the 60’s which ABC originally approached and inspired the T.V. program ?

3) Give us the titles to at least two hit songs from the T.V. band ?

4) Give us the titles to at least two hit songs from the real life family band ?

5) Give us the real names of at least three members from each band ?
