Yes, it’s true, it’s one week away and you know what you gotta do, Right? However! Today is Trivia Tuesday for October 27th! Brought to us each Tuesday by all the Groovey people at Omnivore Recordings! Your first and last stop for all the music you didn’t know, you didn’t know! But! Before we get to this week’s question, we’d like to take a moment and recognize the “Smarty Pants” readers who weighed in on last weeks question, which was: We asked you to give us the titles to at least 3 songs from the 60’s that include the word “Zebra” in the the lyric? The correct answers are “Little Egypt” by The Coasters in 1961! “Ahab the Arab” by Ray Stevens in 1962 and lastly, “At The Zoo” by Simon and Garfunkel in 1967!
What followed was something that has never happened here at SMS in the four years we’ve been running the Tuesday morning Trivia Quiz! Although we had over a dozen clever remarks and snide comments, we had not one correct answer! NOT EVEN CLOSE!…Hunh, Wha, Really? Yup! All those 60’s Super Genius’s and nary a good guess among ‘em!
So! Without any further delay it’s time for this week’s new trivia question: Last weeks question was about “Zebras” and this week’s question is about “Monkey’s! Or more appropriately for SMS “The Monkees” So let’s take it Monkee by Monkee, Let’s start with Monkee Micky Dolenz! The Monkees wasn’t his first T.V. series, in 1956 Micky co-starred in a popular series on ABC which ran for two years! What was the name of that short lived series and for Super genius credit what was the name of the character he played? Next Monkee Michael Nesmith! Mike’s mother was an inventor! What was her invention that made her and ultimately Monkee Michael very wealthy? Now, Monkee Peter Tork! Peter lived with a very talented roommate who also auditioned for “The Monkees” However he was turned down allegedly because of his bad teeth! But, fret not for Peter’s roommate he went on to become an iconic Rock Superstar! What was Monkee Peter’s roommates name?
Lastly, in 1964, Monkee Davey Jones appeared on the same stage with The Beatles! Give us a brief explanation as to how and where this ironic event occurred?
In summary, here’s what we need:
1) What was the title of the first T.V. series which Micky Dolenz co-starred in between 1956 and 1958 ? And for SMS Super Genius credit what was his character’s name?
2) What popular office product did Michael Nesmith’s mother invent?
3) Prior to becoming a Monkee, Peter Tork shared his living space with a roommate who also auditioned for The Monkees, but didn’t pass the audition! What is Peter’s former roomate’s name?
4) In 1964 Davey Jones appeared on the same stage as The Beatles! Give us a little detail about that performance and WHERE did it happen?
