Before we get to this week’s all new question, we’d like to acknowledge the brilliant readers who weighed in on last week’s quiz, which was all about a few of our favorite “Cajun/Rock” song’s from the 60’s! Only one reader showed up with all the right answer’s , Our old friend and Bass player extraordinaire Mr. Curtis Stone! You and you alone nailed last weeks question! Way to go my old friend! While we’re at it we must also include Mr. Clark Besch! Who weighed in but  didn’t have all the right answers! Thanx Clark, and big SMS Congrats to you Curtis!

But now! It’s time for this week’s new Trivia Quiz: This week’s question is all about the Top 40 hit making machine Three Dog Night! Founded in 1967 by the three original vocalists, Chuck Negron, Cory Wells and Danny Hutton, the trio would go on to score a staggering 21 Top 40 hits by 1975, with three hitting the number one spot! However prior to coming together, founding Three Dog Night and finding huge success each of the three vocalist’s were developing their craft, working the system and chasing that elusive career as a recording artist! The truth  is one of the “Dogs” did in fact have a couple hits before joining his two partners! And that is today’s question: Which one of “The Three Dogs enjoyed a couple minor hits before joining TDN ? Give us the title to at least one of his solo hits ?

Finally and to qualify for SMS “Super Genius Status, we add the following: Shortly after the group debuted and started getting attention the vocal trio expanded and augmented the group by adding four additional band members! Piano, Guitar, Bass and Drums! Please give us their four names!

Yes, this weeks question is tough and no, they didn’t change their name to “Seven Dog Night”

In summary, here’s what we need:

  1. Danny Hutton
    Roses and Rainbows
Band members were Jimmy Greenspoon (keyboards), Joe Schermie (bass), Michael Allsup (guitar), and Floyd Sneed (drums).

  2. Danny Hutton with Roses and Rainbows. I have it with pic sleeve.
I have NO idea on the other 4 members. I saw them in 1972 here in Lincoln and they were great. Saw them again same venue here in mid-80s too. Great again.
One of the last bands that songwriters could place songs with to make hits, if they were not performers, per se. SO many talented songwriters got early bucks with 3 Dog doing them!
