The SMS Trivia Question Of The Week!

YES! It’s Trivia Tuesday for Oct. 23rd.

However, This week we have a little house cleaning to take care of! Over the last couple days  SMS was plagued with multiple technical problems, that may have affected your ability to access SMS!

We are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience, but can assure you that all is well and we’re back to business as usual. Lastly, we’d like to draw your attention to our new post about 60’s Counter Culture comedian Tom Leher! Tom and his brilliance got a little lost in the tech snafu but the post is back up and we think you’ll enjoy it! Just click on the home page and a great pix of Tom should appear in our list of cuttent posts….All apologies, and meanwhile, as usual, it is time to recognize the brilliant readers who correctly answered last week’s question which was a lyrical one. Here’s your lyric; “When it came to shooting straight and fast, he was mighty good”  So, who does “He” refer to? What’s the title of the song and who sang it? The correct answer is The “He” is Liberty Valance, From the Song “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” sung by Gene Pitney!

Only one reader correctly answered the question, so BIG SMS CONGRATULATIONS GO OUT TO Jack Bigoshay  Way to go Jack!  Apparently  this was a very tricky question! However second place position goes out to several readers who gave it their best but just missed the mark. Soooo, second place congrats and thank you s go out to Denise Shoemaker, Fred Vogel, Steve Wingradsky,  Rob Carter and Mark L. Chapman!

” Attaboys and Attagirls go out to SIX of our Fave readers THANK YOU LADY AND GENTS!

But now it’s time for this week’s Trivia Question:  Between 1963 and 1965 Bob Dylan’s classic “Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright” was a Top Ten Hit TWICE. First in 1963 by Peter Paul and Mary, then once more in 1965 by ?The Wonder Who?

Here’s your Question, The Wonder Who? Wasn’t this bands real name, The Wonder Who? Was their “Nom de Disque” so to speak, soooo, What is the actual name of this band, and what is the name of their lead singer? Plus give us the title of at least one solo hit from the lead singer?

Finally, just for fun, on this odd record by The Wonder Who? Doesn’t it sound like the background singers are saying “Tightey Whiteys”?

Just sayin!

No hints, this ones too easy!

  1. I wonder why this song was not included in the film-bio “Jersey Boys”??? And I am not sure if the film included mention of “THE WONDER WHO” in the chronology?? But there are A LOT OF NAMES USED BEFORE THE 4-SEASONS!! Frankie Valli was the prime mover of these groups. How many times [I can’t count] have I tried to eeeck out thost high notes….WOW!!!! I’LL SAY I REALLY LIKED “WALK LIKE A MAN” WAY BACK IN THE OL’ SCHOOL DAYS!!!
    thanx “Shoe” … the wood

    • Hey Woody,
Yeah, we also loved “Walk Like A Man” BUT, “Sherry and “Big Girls Don’t Cry” changed my life and drove me to the record store!
Re: The Wonder Who not showing up in The Jersey Boy’s productions, I believe that’it’s due to the fact that Frankie felt that The Wonder Who was their inside joke and know one took it seriously.. The Wonder Who had a second hit, do you recall their version of “The Good Ship Lollipop” Yep! The same song from the Shirley Temple movie! WHO could take THAT seriously?
Thanx for weighing in on this one Woody, and YEAH, We couldn’t hit those high notes either!

    • Hey Johnny Z,
As always, YOU NAILED IT! And it sounds to us like you’re as big a Four Seasons and Frankie Valli fan as we are!
Always great when you drop in with that twinkle in your eye…
      Thanx John,
      Rick

  2. Aw, Rick, an easy one

The Four Seasons lead singer was Frankie Valli. Other hits include Sherry and Big Girls Don’t Cry. Frankie had a solo hit with Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You.

These guys are the basis for the play Jersey Boys.

    • Hey Steve,
As usual, right on the money and more!
Did you see Jersey Boys? We did and came away disappointed with the orchestra’s “not true to the original” arrangements!
      What did you think?
      Rick

    • Hey Mark!
FIRST ONE IN WITH THE FULL CORRECT ANSWER! Way to go Dude!
By the way , do you hear the background singers singing “Tightey Whiteys” as we do?
