The SMS Trivia Question of the Week 12/31…New Years Eve!

Yes! Here we are at the end of the second decade in the 21st century! Don’t know ‘bout you? But, it boggles our mind just a wee bit! However, It is “Trivia Tuesday”  for Dec. 31st. And,  before we get to this weeks  “Futuristic” Trivia Question, we’d like to thank all the past, present and future Groovey folks at Omnivore Recordings who bring us the “Tuesday Trivia Quiz” each week! “TANK QUE! Meanwhile, before we get to this week’s question, we’d like to give a shout out to all the Groovey readers who correctly answered last weeks question, which was: A lyrical question, we wanted to know what was “Candy Apple Red with a Ski for a Wheel” ?  Of course the correct answer was  Santa’s Sleigh, which he named “The Little Saint Nick” Sledding in fast and first was Jolly old Fred Vogel! Following in close second was the never selfish, yet always Elfish Julie  Ismert and rounding out the reindeer was Owen! Big congrats and Happy New Year to both you brilliant gents and to Lady Julie!

But now, it’s time for this weeks new Trivia Question: According to this “Whacky” monster hit from a one hit wonder duet in 1968, the future looked bleak! Among the singer’s ominous warning’s, we heard: (In the future) “You ain’t gonna need your teeth, won’t need your eyes”

What then, does the singer say to explain?

What is the title of this dark tale of the future?  Who recorded this grim prediction? And “Super Genius status to anyone who can give us the title of the album that features this odd dirge of doom?

In summary, here’s what we need:

1) According to the singer, why will teeth and eyes become obsolete in the future?

2) What is the title of the song?

3) Who can we blame for this negative novelty we heard ad nauseam ?

4) “SMS Super Genius” status to anyone who can give us the title to their one album?

  1. In the year 2525. Zager and Evans. I believe album was “2525 (Exordium & Terminus)” there’ll be nothing to chew and no one is gonna look at you…A creepy little tune for sure. I remember driving around with smoke oozing out of my 68 Chevy van, with the radio blasting this the good news. HA HA HA. YA know, between that and Barry Maguire’s “Eve of Destruction”. I’m surprised the baby boomers had any children. By the way.. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL 60’s music geeks and nerds. It is a pleasure to have folks around that share the same obsession with 60’s music.

    • Hey Curtis,
I know what your sayin about “Eve of Destruction etc. Don’t know about you but I HATED this record! The production was all over! Do a brief “Google” search on 25/25 and you’ll see reviews that refer to this record as a “Mariachi “ Record!
Thanx Curtis, love the image of you in your Van, but here’s our question, was “
The Smoke” coming from inside the cab or the engine? You get what I’m sayin’?
Thanx Curtis, always love it when you show up!

    4) 2525 (Exordium & Terminus) is the debut studio album by Zager and Evans and was released in 1969.
PS This was not their only album

    • Hey Owen,
As usual you are right on it and thanx for pointing out that….(Unfortunately) their debut album was not their only album
      Thanx Owen!
      Rick

    • Hey Fred!
Happy New Year and you are first in! AND, as usual in complete agreement! I hated this record with all it’s mellow drama and screwy production values!
      Thanx Mr. V.
      Rick
