The SMS Trivia Question of the Week 4 / 27

Here we are once more with “Trivia Tuesday” for April 27th! Brought to us each week by all the Groovey people at Omnivore Recordings! Your absolute destiny for all the music you didn’t know, you didn’t know! However, before we get into this weeks Quiz, we must recognize all the brilliant readers who weighed in on last week’s Question, which was: All about six of our favorite prime time T.V. Shows from the 60’s where at least one cast member recorded and released a hit song! First in, armed only with a “Fun Fact”  was a long time SMS Super Genius, the one and only Mr. Steven Winogradsky! Better luck this week Steve! Next in and totally nailing the question was another old friend and long time SMS “Super Genius Mr. Edmund Clark Simmons! Way to go my Super Trivial Friend!

But now! It’s time for this weeks new Trivia Quiz! And this week it’s a lyrical Question!  Here’s your lyric:

“Two girls are too many, three’s a crowd and four you’re dead!”

Ah, but here are the details: The song that includes this lyric was recorded and released by two very different but hugely popular British Invasion Bands with only one scoring a Top 5 single in the U.S. So, this week we’ll need to know what popular song features the above lyric, who are the two bands that recorded and released it ? Of the two bands that recorded the song, which band had a Top 5 hit with the song and which band member ( There was a total of nine between the two groups ) wrote this great tune ?

In summary, here’s what we need:

1) What is the title of the song that includes the lyric quoted above ?

2) What are the names of the two British bands that recorded and released this great song in 1966 ? ( within two months of each other)

3) Who wrote this clever “Ditty” ?

4)  Which of the two groups enjoyed a Top 5 hit in the U.S. A. ?

While you’re having a good think on this weeks quiz, take a moment to click on the link we provided just below and browse thru Omnivore Recordings catalog of the grooviest music in the known world and beyond!

Remember! You can play the weekly Trivia Quiz as often as you like, but can only win a Groovey Omnivore C D every 30 days!…

  1. Dandy is the tune
    The Kinks and Herman’s Hermits
Dave Davies wrote it. I got to work with him a bit in the 80’s. Nice chap!
Herman’s Hermits had the hit…I think.

    • Hey Jeffrey!
Quite close old Chap, with a small turnaround… RAY Davies wrote the song, however many people close to the brothers, claim the song IS about Dave!
Gotta hear your Dave Davies stories someday!

  2. 1. Dandy
    2. Hermans Hermits, Kinks (altho I am not sure)
    3. Ray davies
    4. Hermans hermits
