The SMS Trivia Question Of The Week! 5/14

It’s Trivia Tuesday for May 14th! Brought to us each week by the Fab Folks @ Omnivore Recordings!  But! Before we get to this week’s question, we’d like to recognize the “Groovey” readers who weighed in on last weeks question, which was: Name four songs written by Neil Diamondbut recorded by someone else? The answer is: “I’m A Believer” by The Monkees, “Kentucky Woman” by Deep Purple,  “Sunday My Way” by Jay and The Americans, and Red Red Wine” by UB 40…Only Two “Groovey” and brilliant readers took a shot at the answer! Ronnie Wood came close, but didn’t quite get it! However Julie Ismert chimed In and is THIS WEEKS WINNER of a very cool Omnivore Recordings CD!….Way to go Jules!

But Now! It’s time for this week’s Question: You of course recognize these four gents below as The Four Seasons! YES! They are the topic of this week’s question, and Here’s Your Question: In The 60’s, The Four Seasons had  Four (4 ) big hits that included a girls name in the title! Give us those Four song titles?

And for extra credit:What name did they go by just prior to changing their name to “The Four Seasons”?

There’s your question, give us the four titles that include a girls name, AND What did they call themselves just prior to becoming The Four Seasons?

Meanwhile as we now do each week, just below we’ve included a link to Omnivore Recordings homepage! Take a moment and browse thru their  rare, great and obscure catalog of stuff you just gotta have!

Remember, you can answer the Trivia Question as often as you like, but can only win a “Groovey” Omnivore CD every two weeks!

  1. Gotta thank “Jersey Boys” for helping me out here. Clint Eastwood always provides great films—just a plug here!
But I would be blind not to at least remember the song “RONNIE”, but moving on here the great single “SHERRI and likewise “DAWN’ and “MARY ANNE”.
Their first band name was “Lover Boys” which brings to mind an 80’s band name of “Lover Boys”. But I think they only really had one hit tune.
    peace and love….wood

    • Hey “Ronnie Oh Ronnie” YOU, of course nailed the question! However their earlier name was “The Four Lovers”
BUT! You indeed are last week’s winner. However, since you were also our previous week’s winner, you do not qualify to win the Omnivore C.D.
Sooooo, On to our newest question coming up tomorrow morning 5/21 Good luck!

    • Hey brutha,
“C’Mon” “Robbie oh Robbie” (Yes, there’s a hint there )
      You’re halfway there!

    • Hey Rob, something popped into my head . . . Candy? I can’t remember the music, but the title is there just crying out to me.

      • Hey Jimmy G.
We think the song you’re referring to is “Candy Girl”
However we always believed that “Candy” was more of a description ( ya know, as in “Sweet as candy” ) than actually the girls name!!
        Great to see you back!
        Rick
