Cathy’s Clown, written by Don Everly and recorded by the Everly Brothers, should not be on the list of songs written by the great Roy Orbison. Roy recorded them either as Roy or the Traveling Willburys. Rick, how could you leave “It’s Over” off of the list? I’ll never forget, my first exposure to Roy was him signing, “Oh Pretty Woman” on Shindig, (If you can remember that show). I wanted sunglasses the next day. Great to have you back Brother.
BTW, The Everly’s recorded Claudette as well. It was the B side of “All I Have to do is dream”. I just kepot flipps the 45 over and over, as I loved both those cuts…
All but Cathy’s Clown (The Everley Bros) were sung by/featured Roy Orbison.
Adding Dream Baby.
And, welcome back, Rick.
1. Cathy’s Clown (#2) recorded by the Everly Bros. Substitute “Ooby Dooby”, recorded by Roy Orbison
2. All other tracks involved Roy Orbison, either as a solo artist (#s 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10) or part of the Traveling Wilburys (#5)
Hey Steve, your mention of the title “Ooby Dooby” reminded me of the first time I heard the song…I hated it and wrote Roy off! Then I heard “Only The Lonely” It changed my life and of course my opinion of “The Big O” I I BOUGHT every record he released, on THE DAY he released it!
Welcome back Steve, it ‘s always great to hear your opinions and insight!
Rick / SMS
Thanks, Rick, and welcome back to you too!
Im gonna guess Cathy’s Clown? Most of these recorded by Everlies and Roy Orbison, but not sure what the real reason is to how these are related otherwise.
I don`t think Cathy`s Clown belongs on the list.
All of the other songs were recorded by Roy orbison.
