Before we get to this weeks Quiz, we’d like to recognize all the brilliant readers who chimed in on last week’s question, which was: A lyrical question, where we quoted a lyric from one of our favorite Pop morsels from 1966 and asked you all about it! Coming in fast and first was Mr. Clark Besch! Well done old boy! Coming in second place because “he had to walk his dog” or something like that was Mr. Edmund Clark Simmons! Mr. Ed…..REALLY?  Next in and scoring an A- ( because he mixed up his Davies Bros.) but he still scores a totally Groovey Omnivore Recordings CD was the totally Trivial Mr. Jeff Conroy! Congrats and way to go Mr. C !

But now! It’s time for this weeks new Trivia Quiz: We think it’s time for a little “Monkey Shine” Yes! This weeks quiz is all about the band many folks referred to as “The Prefab” Four! The Monkees!  During the roll up and amid all the hype and promotion of the show and It’s four stars There was an emphasis on how the. Band consisted of four complete unknowns, in an enffort to build a bit of “Mystique! But the truth is all four of these “Unknowns” were most definitely in the show biz mix! In this weeks quiz we’ll be asking you to fill in the blanks in each Monkee’s past! We’ll start with Monkee Mickey Dolenz! Mickey got his start by landing a co-starring role in a 1950’s weekly T.V. Next up, Michael Woolhat Nesmith!  ( The quiet Monkee)Prior to The Monkees Mike had already signed a record deal and a deal with a major music publisher leading to Mike having a minor hit of his own, but under a different name! First, give us Mikes other name he went by as a solo artist? Plus, give us the title to his song that Linda Ronstadt had a hit with?

Lastly, we have Peter Tork, although Peter did little more than busking on the streets of Greenwich Village, in L.A. he was hanging and jamming with many of L.A.’s “Soon to be Superstars! In fact at the time of his audition his roommate would soon go on to be part of The Laurel Canyon Mafia but more importantly one of the 60’s most talented and celebrated singer /  songwriter Superstars of the 60’s and beyond! Who was Peter’s  roommate? So, there you have our Monkee Business for the week!

That guy (Nesmith) had such a beautiful voice that few people rarely heard till after he left the Monkees! Additionally I think he is also an extremely unappreciated songwriter! Just listen to his song “Joanne” from his First National Band days! Have a listen here:
