Yes Indeed, it’s time for an all new Trivia Quiz for Tuesday, August 15th! Brought to us each week by all the Groovey people at Omnivore Recordings! Your perfect destination for all the music you didn’t know, you didn’t know! Unfortunately last week we didn’t run a trivia question, so this week we’re jumping straight into this week’s question, and here ‘tis…
This weeks question is a bit unusual, but we believe when the correct answer is revealed most of you will be quite surprised! In the 1950’s into the 60’s America’s favorite situation comedy was “I Love Lucy” starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. We’re certain you have fond memories and can readily recite your favorite lines from your favorite episodes! There are dozens of people and elements that made “I Love Lucy” Televisions greatest “sitcom” One of them was actress/comedian Vivian Vance, Vivian played Ethel Mertz, Lucy’s friend, landlord and most importantly Lucy’s comedic foil. Yes, Vivian Vance or Ethel Mertz, we know, you know, her work! Ah, but here’s something we bet you don’t know, in addition to being a great actress and comedian “Viv” was the Godmother to the founder, principal songwriter and lead singer for one of the most popular and successful American bands from the 1960’s, with 7 consecutive top 10 singles! We need you to give us the name of this Sixties “Super Star” as well as the name of his band and the titles to at least three of his many classic compositions ? Finally, this talented musician / singer / songwriter also worked in film and T.V. So, for SMS “Super Genius” status give us the titles to at least one feature film and one T.V. Series that featured this talented artist’s music ?
In summary, here’s what we need:
1) Give us the name of the talented 60’s singer / songwriter superstar whose Godmother was Vivian Vance ?
2) Give us the name of the popular 60’s band he founded and served as it’s creative force ?
