The SMS Trivia Question Of The Week!

TWINS! That’s the subject for this Trivia Tuesday, Oct. 9th.

But, as always, before we get to this weeks question, we want to recognize the brilliant readers who correctly answered last week’s question, which was: According to the song, what kind of day was “The 3rd Of June” and what was the singer doing that day? The correct answer is “Another sleepy dusty delta day” from “Ode to Billy Joe” by Bobby Gentry  and she was “out chopin’ cotton” But that was no surprise for Fred Vogel, Who was first in before the sun came up, likewise for Steve Winogradsky, Mr. Ron Wood and brother Rob!  All four masters of trivial brilliance nailed it!

( By the way Gents, what exactly were they throwing off the Tallahatchie bridge)?

But now, here is this week’s question: In The 60’s we were introduced to and entertained by at least three sets of twins!

1) The Glimmer Twins

2) The Nerk  Twins

3) The Gibb Twins

What were looking for is EACH OF THEIR FULL  NAMES, EACH OF THEIR BANDS, AND TWO HITS FROM EACH BAND FROM THE 60’s

In summary, we’ll need Six full names, Three band names and Six hits from those bands from the 1960’s

Seeing double yet? Two to one, you’ve already answered the question twice!

  1. The “GIBB TWINS” I knew right away: Robin and Maurice Gibb. The “BEE GEES!!” Their first “album” was one of maybe a dozen or so 8-Track tapes I played over and over again in my first [drivable] care! They are all GREAT SONGS!!! I liked “To Love Somebody” and “New York Mining Disaster 1942”. I had to cheat to figure out the “Glimmer” twins and “Nerk” twins. I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN WHAT “NERK” WAS!!! Because you are the GURU of ALL THINGS “NERK”!!!!!
    —- the wood
p.s. I’m still unclear of just where “Nerk” and “Glimmer” came from???

    • Hey Ron Wood,
“the Guru of all things Nerk” WOW, we’ve been called a lot of names, but that is certainly a new one! BUT, we like it!
Meanwhile, as to the origins of these nicknames, here’s a little history, “The Nerk Twins came about when John and Paul booked their first job at The ?Fox and Hounds Tavern” in Liverpool. They realized they needed a name, and they both decided on “The Nerk Twins” “Nerk” was Liverpudlian slang for lame and un- cool! Kinda sounds like an early version of “Nerd” doesn’t it?
As for The Glimmer Twins, WERE GOING TO ASK ANY BRILLIANT READER WHO HAS A FEW MORE DETAILS TO PLEASE JUMP IN HERE!!
But, here’s what we know; Mick and Keith were on a vacation cruise with their girlfriends to Brazil, and one night, during dinner an older couple thought they recognized them and mumbled something like “Aren’t you those Glimmer Twins”? Or something like that, again we’re not quite sure on the Glimmer dates and details, but “The Nerk is absolutely the story! Meanwhile, just about to post a new Trivia Question! Check it out

    • Hey John,
Great to have you back in the conversation and of course you NAILED the Trivia Question! Steve Winogradsky beat you in, but he’s currently in the U.K. which gives him a bit of an edge due to the time change! BUT! The next question is only 6 day’s away!
