One mo’ time, It’s Trivia Tuesday for Sept. 28th! Brought to us every Tuesday morning by the very Groovey people at Omnivore Recordings! Your perfect destination for all the music you didn’t know, you didn’t know! But first! Before we get into this week’s all new Trivia Spectacular we gotta recognize the brilliant readers who dove into last week’s quiz! Which was a test of your knowledge and memory for the works of the great Jimmy Webb! However, last weeks quiz got a bit confused with many readers dividing their answers in two posts! As was the case with Larry in Munich! First in and fast but came up short on all the questions, but most importantly it was great to see you back here at SMS! Hope your here next week! Same goes for Mr. Jeffery Conroy! coming in a close second with most of the answers In fact Mr. Steve Winogradsky landed in third but was the first contender to get all the answers right and do it. In ONE entry! Making YOU this weeks big winner! Well done Steve and big SMS thanx to Larry and Jeff…But that’s not all Fast Frederick Vogel nailed it and Denise Shoemaker showed up but she too could only deliver partial results! More big thanx to you never trivial Lady and Gents!
But now! It’s time for the new SMS Trivia question of the week: This week’s quiz is a lyrical question featuring two sets of words! Here you go…
Lyric number one:
Way down in Louisiana
Down in Cajun land
Folks got something goin’
Goes something like
Folks come n gitcha’ tootsie
Lyric number two:
Way down in Louisiana
Where the Alligators grow so mean
Lived a girl
I swear to the world
Made the Alligators look tame
There you go, two sets of the opening lyrics to two of our favorite “Cajun Rock” songs from the late 1960’s! We need you to give us the titles of the two songs that feature the lyrics respectively, and the names of the two artists who recorded these two 60’s classics ?
In summary, here’s what we need:
1) Give us the titles of the two songs that respectively include the two brief lyrics we featured above ?
2) Give us the names of the two artists that recorded these two 60’s classics ?
Lastly, this weeks “Super Genius” question involves a song written in 1969 but not released until 1970! But we love this record so much and fits so well with this weeks theme, we HAD to include it!
3) Give us the title to the song about a one armed Cajun Alligator hunter who lived alone in the swamp ? And of course the clever artist who wrote and recorded this ballad bout the bayou ?
While you conjure up some Cajun Voo Doo, take a break and click on the link below and browse Omnivore Recordings catalog of the coolest music in the known world and beyond
Remember, you can play the weekly quiz as often as you like, but can only win a Groovey Omnivore CD every 30 days!…

Didja know “Nikki Hokey was P.J’s only single to sell one million singles in the U.S That was quite unusual in those days
Thanx Cur this, always great when you drop by!

The second is Polk Salad Annie by Tony Joe White, but that first one stumps me.
Hey Clark,
The first was Nikki Hokey by P.J. Proby who I’ll bey you know! P.J. Was a kind of Elvis character from Texas who moved the the U.K. And became a huge Super star! But got into a lot of trouble wth very young girls!
Always good to see you!
