“Too Much Monkee Business”! On a Trivia Tues for Sept. 3rd. Brought to us each week by the very cool folks at Omnivore Recordings! The only place to find all the music you didn’t know, you didn’t know! HOWEVER, before we get to this week’s question, we’d like to recognize the cool readers who weighed in on last week’s question, which was: We quoted the following lyric, “Me shirt them do tear up my trousers are gone, I don’t Want to end up like Bonnie and Clyde” We asked you what song the lyric is from and who sang it? The correct answer as many of you know is “Israelite” by Desmond Decker and The Ace’s First In, as usual, non other than Fast Frederick Vogel! But, right on his heals was a new “Speedster, Jonathan Moorehead .Smooth Move J.M. Next up our old buddy from Eagle Rock High School, Jimmy McDearmon! Go Jimmy Go! Our Top 40 buddy, Steve Thomas nailed it next! As did Mark L. Chapman and Curtis Stone! One gigantic SMS congratulations, to all six of you brilliant chaps!
But now! It’s time for this week’s Trivia Quiz: Between 1966 and 1968 The Monkees were the second biggest band in the world! In fact, according to Mike “Woolhat” Nesmith, for one brief period The Monkees were outselling The Beatles and The Rolling Stones COMBINED! True or not The Monkees were a Powerful Phenomenon! After the T.V. Show was canceled and the group disbanded, each Monkee went on to further pursue a solo career in music! However! In spite of the momentum and name recognition, only one Monkee would go on to crack the Top Ten. And that is your question: Who is the only Monkee to crack The Top Ten In 1970?
1) Which Monkee had the only top ten solo hit?
2) What is the title of the song?
3) For SMS Extra Credit What is the title of The Monkee’s one and only feature film?
4) What is the name of the song that served as the films opening and closing theme?
5) Lastly ( and this just might be “Monkee Shine) Who wrote the song that served as the opening and closing theme for their film?

Monkees..the movie was Head. Song was The porpoise song written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin I believe. I can’t Imagine they would write such a trippy scene, man. It blows my mind, man.. Mike Nesmith had a decent hit Called Joanne. Great Tune. In fact, I just produced a version of that tune on another artist. Nesmith was a very talented cat, beyond his Monkees persona.
